Terms of Use

Effective 11 July 2026 · Getsu, by Nekko Labs

These terms cover your use of the Getsu app and the getsu.app website. Getsu is a calm, local-first monthly journal made by Nekko Labs. We've kept this short and readable; if anything is unclear, email hello@nekkolabs.com.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • Your journal and everything in it is yours. We claim no ownership.
  • The app is open source and provided as-is, without warranty.
  • The core journal is free. Premium is an optional paid subscription for sync, backup, and more photos.
  • Don't misuse the service or use it to break the law.

Your content is yours

You own everything you create in Getsu: your entries, goals, moods, trackers, and photos. We claim no ownership of and no licence to your content. Because Getsu is local-first, your journal stays on your device unless you choose to enable Premium sync (see our Privacy Policy). You are responsible for keeping your own backups; export to plain files is available at any time.

The software and its licence

The Getsu application is open source and released under the MIT Licence. You may use, study, modify, and redistribute the code under that licence, which you can read in the project repository. The name "Getsu", the Nekko Labs name, and the Getsu logo and brand marks are not covered by the code licence and remain ours.

The free app

The complete journaling experience, including unlimited goals and entries, insights, local photos, and export, is free to use with no account. We may change or improve features over time, but we will not put your ability to read and export your own writing behind a paywall.

Premium subscription

Premium is an optional paid plan that adds cross-device sync, cloud backup, additional monthly photo storage, and related conveniences. When Premium billing is available:

  • It is a recurring subscription billed through our payment processor at the price shown on the pricing page, plus any applicable taxes.
  • You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • If you stop paying, you keep your journal. Sync and backup simply pause; your local data is untouched.

Refunds, where offered, follow the terms of the app store or payment processor used to buy the subscription.

Acceptable use

Please don't use Getsu to break the law, to store or distribute content you have no right to, or to attack, probe, overload, or disrupt the service or the infrastructure behind Premium sync. Don't attempt to access other users' data. We may suspend access that threatens the service or other people.

Third-party services

Optional features rely on third parties: AI assist uses Anthropic with your own API key, and Premium sync uses Supabase. When you enable these, their terms also apply to that use. The Privacy Policy explains what data is involved.

No warranty

Getsu is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do our best to keep the app reliable and your data safe, but we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own exports.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nekko Labs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of Getsu. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Changes

We may update these terms as Getsu evolves. When we do, we'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, note them here. Continuing to use Getsu after an update means you accept the revised terms.
